It’s been a varied year, to say the least: it started on BBC
Scotland’s Hogmanay Live Show and finished at The Great British Folk
Festival at Butlins Skegness last weekend! In between those bookends,
we’ve squeezed a lot in.
In March, we recorded North, which was released in the autumn and
nominated for Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards. We
can’t wait to get out on tour with it in March 2016. (Dates are on
the gig page already.)
Back in October, we had a brilliant week at Blazin’ in Beauly, where
we were joined by some lovely guest tutors – Paul Anderson, Shona
Donaldson, Alastair Savage and the incomparable Rick Taylor.
We enjoyed some top craic gigging throughout the year, both Blazers
tours and one-off festival visits. We were delighted to be joined for
some of these by the wonderful Lauren MacColl, who provided maternity
cover for Jenna while she welcomed gorgeous Euan to the world.
Aye, we’ve fitted a fair amount in to 2015!
We’re starting 2016 in a similar fashion – we’re delighted to be
hosting Blazin:Land as part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Scot:Lands event.
Our next gig will be as part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Scot:Lands
project. We’ll be playing a free concert in Greyfriars Kirk on New
Years Day, and will be joined by our friends Adam Holmes and Rachel
Sermanni. Come on down for a spot of first footing!
On January 30th, we will hit the stage of the O2 ABC in Glasgow as
part of Celtic Connections festival. The Elephant Sessions provide
support, and it promises to be a mighty night!
